Pierce’s paper describing a new iRQC factor, RIOK3 is finally published at Cell Reports. Pierce shows that loss of 60S biogenesis function results in iRQC activation. This activation leads to increased RNF10 and RIOK3 expression which both facilitate 40S degradation. RIOK3 binds to the ubiquitylated 40S. So many interesting finding in this paper. Great work Pierce and everyone who was involved in the project.
